In HHWS the MC wants to be a Professional football player and be like his brother who is already a Pro. In SD the MC wants to impress a girl, so he takes up the sports. While protagonist of both the anime show a lot of promise in their sports there reason for taking the sports will impact the way you watch these anime. In SD most of development and focus is on MC. In HHWS there is a lot off character development for MC as well as for side characters. There are few things that make HHWS stand out versus SD Such as character development, an interesting plot, and Inspirational story.
